A major contribution to the District was made when Leo Schula was elected and

served as Governor of District 597 during the 1968-69 Rotary year. Twelve years

later, Paul Garthwaite was elected and served as Governor of District 597. Then

in 1999, Sam Soifer became the third Charles City Club member to serve as

District Governor. All three men will be remembered for their devoted service and

leadership given to Charles City and our district.
